This turquoise and sterling silver ring features a 10mm round Blue Basin (Kingman) Turquoise cabochon. It has a modern design with concave shape and rounded edges that make the ring comfortable to wear. Blue Basin is a Kingman Turquoise, mined in the Kingman mining district, in Kingman, Arizona. The gemstones are similar shades of sky blue, but each is unique, with occasional black or brown speckles. The stone was set in the bezel and additionally secured with jeweler's epoxy. The turquoise has been stabilized like most turquoise from the area. We like this setting as it is solidly made and has modern styling.
NOTE: This ring is occasionally available in other sizes. The photos show the ring style with similar gemstones. The rings that are currently for sale are marked "Size 7" and "Size 8-B" in the photos.
Turquoise is a December birthstone, 11th anniversary gemstone and the State Gemstone of Arizona. Metaphysically, turquoise is considered one of the most powerful healing stones. Throughout history different cultures, including Native Americans, Tibetans and Egyptians, revered its healing powers. Turquoise is said to be a stone of communication and also helps the mental state overall by increasing serenity, creativity, empathy, positive thinking, intuition, happiness and wisdom. It is considered a stone of friendship. Its blue color has come to symbolize the spirit or sky.
